State Chapter of ARISE meets to discuss progress of school education for the state of Gujarat.

The Gujarat state chapter for the Association for Re-Inventing School Education (ARISE) met on 14th October 2024 in the city of Vadodara for framing a working strategy towards the betterment of school education in the state of Gujarat. The meet was attended by many prominent promoters of self-financed private schools in Gujarat, including leaders from Fountainhead, Cygnus, Alembic, AmritVidalaya, St. Kabir, and Gajera, amongst others. The discussions ranged from working collaboratively with the ministry of education, Gujarat, to assist them in whatever way possible to enhance the learning outcomes in government schools to developing models in academia, sports, and extracurricular activities for adding more value to students of Gujarat self-financed schools to ensuring better implementation of all rules and regulations laid down by the state of Gujarat. It was also decided that all good practices that were laid down as processes through research by the ARISE intelligence unit (like the School Safety & Child Protection checklist) would be spread to as many schools in Gujarat to help build a safer and more conducive atmosphere for the students in schools in Gujarat. The meeting was also attended by the ARISE Secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, the State Chair, Gujarat, for ARISE, Mr. Kavish Gardia, said, “ARISE is an excellent platform to help converge some of the country’s most progressive and intellectual minds across school promoters, entrepreneurs, and leaders who remain committed and focused on serving as a beacon for change within the diverse and dynamic landscape of India’s school education system. The objective of the state chapter is to execute this very spirit amongst the school promoters and leaders of Gujarat and to work together along with the government as one unified voice to fulfill the needs and aspirations of parents and students studying in the schools of Gujarat.”

Added Vinesh Menon, Director General & CEO, ARISE “The first state chapter meet of ARISE was held with great enthusiasm. We are sure many more will be conducted with the singular interest of the betterment of the students of the state. The Secretariat is committed to supporting the Gujarat Chapter of ARISE and any other state associations that have a like-minded approach to promoting education in the state.”

The state of Gujarat has more than 60,000 schools, with nearly 10 million students studying in them. Gujarat ranks 9th on the Education Development Index (EDI); planned and prepared by the National University of Educational Administration (NUEPA), this index measures the performance of states on the Universalization of Elementary Education program. Though it is a significant leap from its 14th position not very long ago, it still points to a compelling need for making intensive efforts to bring about a change in the status of education in the state.
