On COLORS’ ‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav’ the wheels of time have turned, and as Treta Yuga dawns, love demands endurance, sacrifice, and an unbreakable will. Starring Ram Yashvardhan as Shiv and Subha Rajput as Parvati, the show features a track of Parvati’s journey packed with relentless trials that will test her spirit, her strength, and her very identity.
Parvati, determined to reunite with Shiva, embarks on a perilous pilgrimage across the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas. Yet, her path is shadowed by darkness—two ruthless asuras, Heti and Praheti, plot to end her journey before it begins. The demons know that Parvati’s triumph will bring forth Ardhanarishwar, the divine fusion of Shiva and Parvati, destined to destroy their reign of terror. For them, breaking Parvati is their only hope for survival. Parvati’s kawad pilgrimage begins at Somnath, where she faces a chilling sight— Mahadev in the form of shivlinga is crying. While Parvati is resolved to end his suffering, Heti and Praheti have other plans.
Praheti takes the form of a monstrous crocodile, lurking in the sacred waters, poised to strike. As Parvati, now vulnerable in her mortal form, steps into the river, the beast attacks. Yet in her moment of peril, her divine Adi Shakti form blazes forth. Bloodied but defiant, Parvati confronts the beast in a battle that shakes the very earth. A kind village woman tends to Parvati’s wounds, recognizing the goddess beneath her mortal guise. Whispering eternal wisdom, the woman reveals a profound truth—Shiva and Parvati are one, bound by destiny, and no force can sever that bond.
Reflecting on the current track, actress Subha Rajput shares, “Every woman who has experienced love will empathise with Parvati, who longs for Shiv. When she walks barefoot on the path of devotion, I feel the weight of that journey in my heart. Parvati’s journey to Somnath reveals an age-old truth—nothing worth having comes easy. If Shiva is fulfilling his duty, Parvati is staying true to her devotion and that belief is what makes their love the first and greatest love saga of the universe. There’s so much to learn from their timeless bond. I believe relationships would be far more meaningful if we turned to our cultural roots for guidance on love, patience, and perseverance. Parvati’s pilgrimage to Somnath shows us that true love is about standing firm in your faith, enduring every trial, and never giving up on the person who holds your heart. I am certain the viewers will have a lot to think about after watching this track on the show.”
