• Tell us about your character?
• Shilpa is the head of the Air-Aasman cabin crew and the ultimate boss lady. Once aspiring to be a Bollywood superstar, her acting career took an unexpected detour into the world of aviation. She makes it clear to her colleagues that she’s not here to make life easy for anyone, especially Goldie. What sets Shilpa apart is her sharp clarity of thought and impeccable timing; she knows exactly how and when to get things done. Her dynamic with Goldie is pure entertainment—a mix of rivalry and reluctant mentorship, packed with hilarious moments. Through a blend of humour and depth, her character arc beautifully captures the unpredictable nature of dreams, proving that life often takes us on unexpected yet meaningful journeys.

• What were your first thoughts when you were offered this role? 
• I was instantly captivated by the show’s vibrant energy and engaging wit. When I was offered the role of Shilpa in Zyada Mat Udd, my first thought was – this is destiny! Back when I participated in Miss India, I was offered a job as an air hostess. However, due to certain reasons, I couldn’t take it up at the time. So, when this role came my way, it felt like life had come full circle. Playing Shilpa is special because she’s such a strong, dynamic character—someone who commands attention and knows exactly what she wants. I couldn’t have asked for a better role.

• What kind of preparation did you do for the role? 
• For Zyada Mat Udd, I really wanted to make sure I did justice to Shilpa’s character. Since she sometimes speaks in Bhojpuri, I turned to watching a lot of web series and films that had that twang. Since I have tried to change my voice and had to make sure my comedy lands, I took inspiration from actors like Govinda and Javed Jaffrey. Along with that, I also spent time watching videos about how air hostesses work—how they carry themselves, their body language, and their interactions with passengers. I also worked on balancing her ambition with her no-nonsense attitude, ensuring she comes across as both commanding and entertaining. It was important to get her chemistry with Goldie right too, so I paid special attention to the banter and comic timing in our scenes.

• How was your experience working with COLORS again? 
• Returning to COLORS feels super special! I’ve had such a wonderful association with the channel in the past, and when Zyada Mat Udd came my way, I knew I had to be a part of it. The entire team has been so warm and welcoming, making the experience even more memorable. It’s always exciting to collaborate with a network that values strong, layered characters like Shilpa. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait for the audience to see this fun, entertaining, and exciting journey unfold!

• What’s been the most exciting part of this journey for you? 
• Comedy is all about timing and chemistry, and working with such a talented cast has made every moment on set a joy. The energy, the instant improvisations of dialogues, and the non-stop laughter have truly made this experience unforgettable! Shilpa is such a dynamic character—one moment she’s in total control, and the next, she’s caught in the most unexpected chaos.

• What sets Zyada Mat Udd from other sitcoms? 
• What makes Zyada Mat Udd stand out from other sitcoms is its fresh and unexpected setting—30,000 feet in the air! While most comedies unfold in homes or offices, this one takes the madness aboard an airline, making every situation wildly unpredictable and full of laughter.
