Surat, 2026: Acting on information and intelligence provided by Grahak Chetna Trust, Surat Police concluded enforcement action on godown being operated from a residential locality in Sai Sitaram Society, Kawas Gam, Ichchopur, Surat, Gujarat. Godown was owned by Rahul Jaiswal. Over 25,000 contraband sticks have been seized in this action.
Commenting on the incidents, Mr. Suresh Kaushik, Principal Trustee, Grahak Chetna Trust, said, “We appreciate law enforcement acting on our information and pursuing these cases. There is an urgent need to counter illicit cigarette trade & eradicate the menace by taking stringent measures. We are committed to educating & spreading consumer awareness about illicit counterfeit/ contraband goods in India. Illicit cigarette trade is a serious and growing threat to public health and society- government is losing tax revenues, legitimate businesses are being challenged, and consumers are getting exposed to unregulated products.”
