Nadiad, Gujarat, May 2026: The historic Khodiyar Mata Mandir, located within the Mafatlal Mills premises in Nadiad, is set to reopen following a thoughtful restoration, reaffirming its place as a longstanding centre of faith and community devotion.
With a legacy that predates the Mafatlal family’s association with the land, the site has long been regarded as sacred. When this presence was brought to the attention of Gagalbhai Mafatlal, a conscious decision was taken not to disturb or relocate it, but to preserve it in its original form.

It was also observed that the deity faced towards the mill, towards the very space where production and livelihoods would unfold. Over time, a belief took root that the blessings of Khodiyar Mata would continue to watch over the mill and its people.
In 1905, a temple structure was developed around this sacred point, ensuring that faith remained at the centre of all that followed.
Over the past 121 years, the temple has remained an integral part of Nadiad’s spiritual and cultural fabric. The recent restoration has been undertaken with the same philosophy, to preserve, not redefine, ensuring that its sanctity continues for future generations.
As part of the reopening, the temple will host a series of traditional religious ceremonies and rituals between 8th May and 10th May 2026. The multi-day spiritual programme will include rituals and observances such as Jyot Aagman, Hemandri Shravan, Yagna Prarambh, Jal Yatra, Nagar Yatra, Maha Abhishek and Purnahuti, reflecting the cultural and spiritual significance of the occasion, and will culminate with the Murti Pratishtha ceremony on 10th May 2026.
The reopening ceremony will take place at the temple premises in Nadiad. Members of the media are invited to attend and witness this moment of cultural and spiritual continuity.
