McCain India’s Commitment to the Financial and Social Upliftment of Women Entrepreneurs Through Project Shakti

Mehsana Gujarat: Recognizing the power of women in driving social and economic change, McCain, a global leader in the frozen food industry, reinforced its commitment to women’s empowerment through its flagship CSR initiative, Project Shakti, during its Women’s Day Celebration. As part of the event, McCain India honored the resilience and achievements of 600 women entrepreneurs at Ambaliyasan Village, Umiyawadi.

The event was graced by Mr. Mainak Dhar, Managing Director, McCain India, who visited Ambaliyasan Village for the first time. The event also saw participation from district stakeholders, honoring the resilience and success of rural women empowered through the initiative. Project Shakti, McCain Foods India’s flagship community program, empowers rural women with financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Since its inception in partnership with Cohesion Foundation Trust in 2018, the initiative has supported around 1,500 women and is currently active in 20 villages across the Mehsana and Kadi blocks of Gujarat.

Real change happens when women gain the confidence to make their own choices. Through Project Shakti, we are not just supporting livelihoods—we are creating awareness, self-reliance, and a vision for a better future. Many women in rural areas have the skills and drive to succeed, but they often lack access to the right resources and networks. By providing financial literacy, vocational training, and entrepreneurial support, we ensure that women are equipped to take control of their lives, make informed decisions, and break the cycle of economic dependence,” said Mr. Mainak Dhar.

During the event, Mr. Dhar interacted with Shakti entrepreneurs, gaining firsthand insights into their journeys, challenges, and successes. His presence reflected McCain’s belief in developing long-term partnerships that drive meaningful change. McCain India remains committed to building an inclusive and equitable society where women have access to the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.

The event also provided a platform for Shakti entrepreneurs to share their inspiring success stories, showcasing how financial independence has transformed their families and communities. Women trained under the initiative have successfully launched small businesses in sectors such as food processing, handicrafts, and local retail, reinforcing the program’s effectiveness.

As McCain continues its journey toward sustainability and empowerment, the success of Project Shakti stands as a testament to the transformative power of opportunity and support.
